My first blog . I don't know why i am entering this new world of blogging .i think the reason behind it is, since the sector in which i am working now has a lot of benches and ample amount of time 2 start a new endeavor, so here i Go!
I read somewhere that India only has 3 kinds of fever jaundice, cholera and election fever. i don't know much about cholera but i have already suffered a lot from the first and the last one but i think i will talk about the recent fever "ELECTIONS".
Everyone becomes super-Indian during these times. Talking about terrorism, security of India , reservations , load shedding and the brilliant promises of the politicians etc etc but when the D-day comes we just sit at home and excuse ourselves by saying that voting is only for the illiterate people, which is very very right since we depend on the illiterate people to do the voting for us and they have not failed us and have made the best governments after every five years, that's the reason why we are never astonished when we have 2 sit every hour each day in darkness or getting a mediocre college even when we have decent scores or when minor foreigners(i don't know whether the court has still declared kasab has an adult or an infant) barge-in in our own land and slaughter people like animals.
So I become a little emotional and promised myself that i will cast my vote this time but like any other young guy of my country i didn't had a clue about whom i would vote and how will my vote make a difference in the betterment of my country but i did have one weapon with me which promised me that if i spent some time on it, i would be able to know about the leaders who are trying to make a government and that weapon was "GOOGLE". so i spent some time doing research about the people who were contesting for elections in my area and i came across a site called http://myneta.info which gave me the background idea of the so called political leaders(i think i should have typed criminals here since for a moment i was confused whether i was gonna vote for a leader or for the best decent criminal).i did observe a very fascinating thing on this site, the party which i hated the most had maximum number of candidates with clean records and were highly educated(most of them were grads and post grads! which is quite astonishing since the ministers of our country are either 10th pass or 12th pass(i am being very optimistic here)).
Now before i tell u something about the so called leaders of my area let me first tell u something about the holy me.Like a typical mumbai wala even i am a non-maharastrian but from the open category(that's what my leaving certificate from my college says) coming from some state down south where i have been to only once or twice that too on the at most request(request? whom am i kidding here lol) of my dad.i am born and brought up in mumbai so yes u can call me a confused south Indian but anyway of the many years i lived in mumbai i never thought that i was a foreigner in this state(sarcasm totally intended) that was until an infamous party (which i hate the most and no points for guessing since u already know which party i am talking about) made me realized that in spite of being an Indian i was a foreigner in this state called Maharastra.
so enough about me now moving on, there i was sitting in front of my computer and the options laying front of me as to which party i should vote. The options being NCP,BSP,shiv sena and MNS. Now since u already know that i am a non maharashtrian from the open category of course, i could see only one option "NCP".
so there i was happy n content that i finally made my mind about whom i would vote and i happily announced my decision to my literate cousin(even he hasn't voted until now). after listening to my nationalistic ideas and the choice of party which i was now supporting he just asked my one question " WHAT IF the party your supporting joins or supports some other party which u hate the most ?" i had to say,my cousin( no matter who coward others might call him) had a very good point there...........
He did made me realize that no matter how hard the government tries to convince people by advertising , showing superstars coming back from exotic places just 2 vote etc etc. i just have one question for them "Do we really have an option apart from two parties? ". i really think that people who call us the largest democracy on earth just crack a cruel joke, because India is neither secular nor democratic.we only have monarchy with one surname ruling us from years and for years too come !
so i guess now you know what i did on the voting day!
P.S: After all even i am literate! ;-)
